AFTER A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS AND THE NEW YEAR, actor Vhong Navarro is facing another pain in his head.
This, after Deniece Cornejo’s legal team headed by Lawyer Calleja, filed a motion for reconsideration to reverse his bail grant issued by the Taguig Regional Trial Court.
The actor was temporarily released from jail after his bail was granted by the local court in the total amount of One Million Pesos (P1-M).
Deniece’s legal team argued in their motion for reconsideration that the camp of Navarro had submitted their evidence late. Therefore, the said bail should not be granted.
The camp of Deniece believed that the decision to grant a bail for the temporary release of the actor was biased. Thus, their petition also included an injunction against the judge.
As this developed, Navarro’s legal team, represented by Lawyer Maggie Garduque, has dismissed the petition. “We have proof naman that the defense was able to file a formal offer of evidence,” the lawyer claimed.
“We were able to file the formal offer of evidence. At any rate, whether or not nakapag-submit ang defense is not material because in petition for bail, ang importante ay ang evidence ng prosecution,” she explained.
“It is actually the prosecution which has the burden of proof to prove that the evidence of guilt of the accused in a rape case is strong.”
