CAGAYAN DE ORO (MDN digital, April 28) – Another quake with a magnitude of 4.0 struck Surigao de Norte Sunday morning which continued to puzzle weather men at the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
It was reported that the quake was an aftershock of the quake with a magnitude of 5.5 that also hit the province on Friday. Phivolcs said they are now carefully studying the series of tremblors that hit Mindanao over the weekend.
Phivolcs said the quake was considered tectonic in origin with its epicenter situated 72 kilometers southeast of General Luna, this province.
Tremblors in Mindanao first hit Davao provinces last week but now the major locations are located in Surigao provinces.
This month, the first quake with a magnitude of 6.5 hit Luzon, killing over a dozen people and destroying some buildings and public and private structures. Then the quake has transferred target in the Visayas registering 6.1 in the richter scale.
