Another four BIFF surrendered to Sultan Kudarat

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Four more members of the terrorist BIFF surrendered to the army this Friday morning (April 28, 2023) in the province of Sultan Kudarat.

The 1st Mechanized Infantry (Lakan) Battalion formally presented the four converts to the 1st Mechanized Infantry (Maasahan) Brigade Commander, Colonel Andre Santos in a short program held at their headquarters in Camp Leono, Kalandagan, Tacurong City.

That’s Col. Santos, the former extremists also dropped their weapons which included two Garand Rifles, an M14 Rifle, a 7.62mm Sniper Rifle, an Anti-Personnel Mine and a Rifle Grenade.

“The four admitted that they were very disturbed and worried from being affiliated with the terrorist group so they had difficulty facing people for fear that they would be blamed. So they decided to convert for the future of their family”, said Col. Santos of 1Mech Bde.

Major General Alex Rillera, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, on the other hand, rejoiced at the sincerity shown by the four individuals in their desire to have a peaceful marriage with their families.

“With the cooperation of the Local Government Unit and the BARMM Government, you will be given initial assistance for your family,” said Maj. Gen. Rillera.

The 6ID and JTF Central Commander praised the 1Mech Bn and 1Mech Bde because the number of people with weapons that can be used in violence has decreased again.

“This is also a big thing for 6ID and JTFC because we have reduced the equipment that can be used to destroy peace in the community”, added the 6ID and JTFC Commander.
