Andanar urges youth leaders in Oro to help govt beef up drive vs Covid-19

CAGAYAN de Oro City–Secretary Martin Andanar on Wednesday urged the youth leaders in th city to help the national government boost the campaign against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“I want Region 10 to be the best region in fighting COVID-19,” said Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operation Office (PCOO).

Noting the wide reach of youth in the city, Andanar said the national government could not do the campaign against COVID-19 alone thus, he seeks help from the SK leaders throughout the country to communicate to the young generation the details about COVID-19 and how it can be prevented.

“I believe dako ang role sa (on the big role of) Sangguniang Kabataan because it’s cliche, but you are the future of the nation and we need to protect that future by following the Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment and Reintegration (PDITR) campaign of the government,” added Andanar, also the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development Security (CORDS) in Region 10.

Sharing the B-Bawal walang mask; I-I-sanitize ang mga kamay, iwas-hawak sa mga bagay; D-Dumitansya ng isang metro; A-Alamin ang totoong impormasyon (BIDA) campaign information materials, Andanar said the youth leaders could disseminate, reproduce, and post the materials in their barangay Facebook pages.

The secretary also proposes a 30-second commercial video contest for the youth to be organized by the SK leaders in the city to heighten COVID-19 awareness.

CDO SK President John Michael Seno said they are willing to organize the contest anytime and proposes to lengthen the duration of the videos to provide more content and information about COVID-19 and the role of the youth in containing it.

“I will do my best to meet you because the majority of the population belongs to the youth and we need to protect our youth from COVID-19,” Andanar added. (RTP/PIA10)
