CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Three units of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army were awarded by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in conjunction with the 87th anniversary of the AFP at Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City this th -21 December 2022.
The award was given to the 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade led by Colonel Michael A Santos and the two battalions under the said brigade. This is the 7th Infantry (Loyal) Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Frederick M Chicote and the 37th Infantry (Conqueror) Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel John Paul D Baldomar.
The Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente O Bacarro himself gave the AFP Campaign Streamer award regarding the destruction and suppression of the aforementioned military unit in the two guerilla fronts of the communist terrorist. This is the Guerilla Front West Daguma and Guerilla Front East Daguma of the Sub-Regional Command Daguma under the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) of the communist terrorist group in the area under the jurisdiction of the Persuader Brigade.
“We’d like to express our appreciation to the AFP for this distinction. We also want to thank the troops and stakeholders for their efforts, notably the local government’s role in bringing back these people to the folds of law. Thus, we will exert even more effort to eradicate the remnants of the communist terrorist group from the territory controlled by the 603rd Persuader Brigade,” said Col. Santos.
The officials of the province of Sultan Kudarat and the towns that belong to it have already expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the soldier to eliminate the insurgency in their area so that there can be complete peace and prosperity.
Major General Roy M Galido, the Commander of the 6th Infantry (Army) Division and Joint Task Force Central immediately extended his congratulations to the 603rd Brigade, 7IB and 37IB on this victory. However, it reminded every troop to “don’t lower your guard down”.
“Although we have decreased the number of Guerilla Fronts, the challenges are still there but we are very optimistic about making insurgency free doable in Central and South-Central Mindanao”, Maj insisted. Gen. Galido.
In this regard, he continues to call on the remaining members of the NPA who are victims of deception and misinformation to turn to the government.
“Kampilan soldiers had been vigilantly guarding our joint area of operations since the start of the yuletide season to ensure the safety and security of the community”, concluded the statement of the Division Commander.
