8 NPAs surrender, yield 7 high- powered firearms in Bukidnon

The surrenderees were Militia ng Bayan (MB) members of "Company 3", Sub-
Regional Committee 4, Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee. They
surrendered the following firearms and ammunition, respectively: Alias JOSEPH –
one (1) Cal .30 M1 Garand Rifle (SN: Defaced) with one (1) clip and six (6) Cal.30
live ammunition; Alias JANDO – one (1) Cal .30 M2 Carbine (SN: Defaced) with one
(1) magazine and five (5) Cal .30mm live ammunition; Alias FELIPE – one (1) Cal
.45 improvised rifle with one (1) magazine and five (5) Cal .45mm live ammunition;
Alias JAGUAR – one (1) folded Cal .9mm KG-9 submachine gun with one (1)
magazine and three (3) Cal .9mm live ammunition; Aliase JOHN/JOMAR – one (1)
locally made Cal .9mm Baby Ingram submachine gun with one (1) magazine
assembly and three (3) Cal .9mm live ammunition; Alias RIBS – one (1) locally made
Cal .9mm Baby Ingram submachine gun with one (1) magazine and three (3) Cal
.9mm live ammunition; Aliase REX – one (1) improvised M79 grenade launcher with
three (3) rounds of 40mm HE live ammunition; and Alias GAMARA wife of Alias
JAGUAR.

Alias Jaguar said that he surrendered because he does not want to continue being a
minion of violence perpetrated by the CPP-NPA terrorists and that he wants his
family to live peacefully. “Isip usa ka amahan lisod kaayo nga walay padulungan ang
atong mga anak ug biyaya, pinaagi sa tabang sa 1st Special Forces Battalion nga
gipanguluhan ni LtColonel Sergio Macarandan Battalion Commander, ako gibalik sa
sabakan sa gobyerno aron matuman ang mga pangandoy sa akong pamilya ug
matagaan maayong panginabuhi ug giawhag ko kamong mga kaubanan ko diha sa
(armadong kalihukan) na mubalik na kamo sa sabakang sa atong gobyerno kay
dinhi ninyo makita ang maayong pagtagad sa atoang mga manlilihok ug pinaagi nila
madawat nato ang maayong ayuda gikan sa gobyerno nga gihatag sa atoa, alias
JAGUAR exclaimed.”

 

Lt. Colonel Sergio P Macarandan Jr, 1st SF Battalion Commander said, “I am very
grateful to these MB members who recently surrendered for their positive response
to our call through Social Media and other means to stop their more than 5 decades
of futile struggle. We urge them to live a peaceful and better life with their families,
free from fear and abuse and become God-fearing Filipino citizens. We want them to
take part in promoting genuine peace and advancing sustainable development in
their communities through our CAPDev project.”

Lt Col Macarandan also said that he will help facilitate the provision of housing units,
firearms remuneration, immediate cash assistance and livelihood opportunities for
the surrenderees under the government's E-CLIP. They will also receive P20,000
each as cash assistance from LGU Pangantucan.

In a statement, 403rd Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Edgardo Y De
Leon lauded the troops of 1st SF Battalion for another accomplishment. "Your efforts
for the surrender of these 8 MBs show the dedication of the Anytime Anywhere
paratroopers in attaining the current thrusts of the Armed Forces. On one hand, let
the surrender of these victims of communist propaganda and deception encourage
other members of the CPP-NPA terrorists to finally lay down their arms and live a
normal life with their loved ones, De Leon said. “We will uphold our mandate of
protecting our people and our sovereignty by continuing with our community support
programs and focused-military operations in pursuing long-lasting peace and
development here in Northern Mindanao, the GATEWAY of the South," the General
highlighted
