75 TESDA scholars in MisOr complete skills training course

LAGONGLONG, Misamis Oriental — As part of its ongoing effort to improve the Filipinos’ standard of living by helping to develop technical skills, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Misamis Oriental (TESDA-MisOr) gathered to celebrate the graduation of another group of scholars in Lagonglong town.

Seventy-five scholars from various fields on September 14. Fifty students, all of whom were residents of barangays Kauswagan and Tabok, graduated from the ‘Farm Field School on Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization’ program, while 25 students from barangay Gaston graduated from the ‘Produce Organic Vegetables Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II’ program.

Dr. Miraflor Emata, the vocational training program administrator at Kinoguitan National Agriculture School, said the program aims to provide communities with free access to this type of program that focuses on teaching a specific trade with a hands-on approach.

“We aim to empower grassroots communities by ensuring that people who are either out-of-school or those who want to learn additional skills are served by the government,” she said.

Beneficiaries thanked the government for the program, saying that it is helpful in their farming endeavors.

They also asked TESDA for additional training to help them improve their skills in growing various crops and contribute to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ‘s goal of improving the country’s agriculture sector.

The agency encouraged the graduates to apply what they had learned in their farming activities, as TESDA hopes to see their products on the market soon. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
