CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central Acting Commander, Major General Roberto S Capulong led the commemoration of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) with the theme: “Upholding IHL as we Recover from the Pandemic: Bayanihan to Reduce the Suffering of Armed Conflict Toward Advancing the Gains of Peace and Reconciliation” during the conduct of flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning, August 01, 2022 at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
The activity was attended by the General Staff, Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resource Personnel of the Kampilan Division.
Brigadier General Eduardo Gubat, 6ID Assistant Division Commander delivered the message of the AFP Chief of Staff, while Senior Master Sergeant Lyfrey Bascar led the AFP Soldier’s Pledge of Reaffirmation of Commitment and Support for the IHL.
MGen. Capulong emphasized the importance of attitude and change in every individual in regard with the IHL celebration. “There has been a big change in our ranks regarding the military’s compliance with human rights and the rules enforced by International Humanitarian Law, something that the Armed Forces of the Philippines achieved high approval and trust ratings among government agencies, scoring 67.4 percent and 53.4 percent, respectively in the 1st quarter survey.”
“Dito sa 6ID, we do not tolerate anyone who commits acts against human rights; we will be very strict and we will always ensure that we will respect the rule of law and the rights of every individual” Maj. Gen. Capulong added.
The commemoration is 6ID’s simple way of showing its support for the international humanitarian law month.
