6,472 army soldiers get jabs in North Mindanao

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City: An additional 531 troopers got jabs during the 2-day period on Aug. 14-15,  2021 here bringing to a total of  6,472 troopers  vaccinated in this largest military vamp in Northern Mindanao.

Of the figure, 3,850 got the first dose while the remaining 2,622 were already fully vaccinated after getting the second dose, the Division of Public Affairs Office (DPAO) here said Wednesday.
Maj. Francisco P. Garello, Jr., DPAO Chief, said the troopers got the AstraZeneca jabs intended for military personnel deployed under the Joint Task Force Diamond in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions.
Maj Ronald C Ancheta, Officer-In-Charge of Camp Evangelista Station Hospital, supervised the vaccination together with hospital’s military Doctors and Nurses in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH).
Getting vaccinated was the only way to protect the soldier and prepare the body for immunity  against the COVID virus, Ancheta said.
He said that the local government units would also conduct vaccination of troopers of the Brigades and Battalions deployed in  various areas of responsibilities in the region.
Maj. Gen. Romeo S Brawner Jr, the 4ID Commander, said that the 4ID is committed in its mass immunization efforts in support of the “RESBAKUNA: Kasangga ng BIDA Campaign,” to beat COVID-19.
He said that the fast tracking of the vaccination of the soldiers was part of the effort to achieve herd immunity in order to preserve the force to be able to fulfill its mission.
Brawner said that the soldiers, considered front liners, also join in the conduct of Quarantine Control Points to mitigate the spread of the COVID virus in other areas in Northern Mindanao. -0-
