578,000 inoculated in Davao City, says report

DAVAO CITY – This city has already vaccinated almost half of its targeted population, the Davao City Vaccination Cluster reported.

The City of Davao has a total population of 1,776,949 based on the 2020 census, and the inoculation team is targeting at least 1.2 million or 70 percent of the total population, to achieve herd immunity.

Based on the local government’s Facebook account, it has 342,741 city residents who have acquired full protection from the listed priority groups, including medical workers, senior citizens, adults with comorbidities.

“We already reiterated our instruction to the vaccine cluster to ramp up the vaccination drive so that we will finish the first doses before the end of this year and all we have to think about is to remind others to take their second doses. We will also look for those who have not taken the first dose yet,” Mayor Sara Duterte said in an earlier interview.

Meanwhile, in Davao Occidental, a top officer of the province’s Health Education Promotion has reported that they have nine confirmed cases for the Delta variant.

Prince Raymond Paraiso, HEP officer said the newly-discovered cases were residents of Sta. Maria town, and they were already quarantined by the local government.

The village was also locked down to prevent the Delta variant from spreading in other neighboring places, it was learned.

Paraiso said: “We also started contact tracing up to the third-degree contacts.” – PNA
