MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon: The City Council here approved an ordinamce granting P 50,000 cash for couples celebrating 50 years marital vows.
Known as the “Golden Wedding Ordinance,” City Councilor Nilo Aldeguer, the principal author of the ordinance, said that the ordinance was expected to strengthen marital ties among marriage couples here
“The ordinance would encourage marriage couple to observe lasting loyalty and fidelity to 50 years or more of unsullied marital relationship,” Aldeguer said.
He said that a good family relationship among marriage couples is critical in the development of a peaceful and stable community.
The Philippine constitution recognizes the family as the “smallest unit” in the community.
To avail of the cash incentive, the city ordinance requires that the couple must be a resident of Malaybalay City for, at least, six years or more, Aldeguer said. -0-
