50 CDO policemen undergo quarantine in evac center

CAGAYAN de Oro City–Fifty policemen in Cagayan de Oro City were confined in an isolation unit in an evacuation center after two law enforcers were found positive of coronavirus here.

Two policemen, a male and a female, assigned to Cogon Market Police Station, the largest public market in Cagayan De Oro City, were found positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The incident prompted the city government to send all policemen assigned in the Cogon police station to a 14-day quarantine period in a Tablon, a village (barangay) east of the city.

Village Chief Billy Auza said that the policemen were confined in one of the city’s evacuation centers located in Tablon.

“I think they will stay there until they are all cleared. They will undergo regular swab testing while the city health officials monitor them for signs of symptoms,” Auza said.

He said that the city government is providing the food requirements and other needs of the policemen.

Col. Mardi Hortilloza, the police spokesperson in the region, said that under any circumstances, the police regional command has enough police personnel to take over command of any vacated police station.

Hortilloza said that the police regional command has already recorded a total of 28 COVID-19 cases in Northern Mindanao – 24 has recovered while four others, including the two cases in Cagayan de Oro City, remain active.
