ILIGAN City–A 26-year old mother is now being laid at the family’s house in Gawad Kalinga (GK) Missionville in Canaway, Barangay Tibanga, here.
Meralyn Monding died in August 19, a day after her 7-year old son, Curt Ronmier, was buried.
She died after almost a month the family discovered in July she has breast cancer while Ronmier died after almost two weeks he was found out having cancer of the brain.
Rofie Ereno, the head of the family, is a construction worker whose income is not even enough to provide the basic needs of the family.
After the Ronmier’s burial, Rofie said, he has not yet recovered from the financial expenses that he is now having difficulties in giving his wife a decent burial.
Meralyn has been scheduled to be laid to her final resting place on August 28, besides the grave of her son at a public cemetery in Barangay Villaverde.
But after Meralyn’s burial, Rofie has to deal another problem again: his 5-year old daughter, Kyla Shin, has a serious heart problem that needs for an immediate treatment at the Philippine Heart Center.
The family discovered Kyla Shin’s condition since she was one year old and was advised to raise atleast 500 thousand pesos for the operation and medicines.
“We cannot even afford to fly to Manila and bring her to the hospital for the operation,” Rey Monding, Meralyn’s brother said in an interview.
Kyla has another two younger siblings aged three and one year old.
Meralyn’s siblings and friends are now asking every kind-hearted persons who could help Kyla Shin’s heart surgery.
