CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Three suspects in the ambuscade of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong were collared Friday (March 10, 2023) morning in a raid on their hideout in, Bukidnon, the police said today.
PCol Reynante Reyes, police provincial director of Bukidnon, withheld the names of the suspects, saying that two of the suspects were positively identified as among those who allegedly ambushed the convoy of Gov. Adiong on Feb. 17, 2023 in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
Reyes said that three suspects, two of them from Kalilangan, Bukidnon and the third from Marawi City, have standing warrant of arrest.
He said that the susoects did not resist when law enforcers, armed with warrants swooped down on their hideout in Kalilangan Friday morning.
The police also recovered two M16 rifles, hand grenades and rifle grenades from the suspects, Reyes said.
He said that the suspects were detained in the Kalilangan Municipal Police.
On Feb. 17, 2023, unidentified suspects ambushed the convoy of Adiong in Kalilangan, Bukidnon killing four of his bodyguards, wounding him and two of his staff.
Adiong filed criminal plaints with four counts of murder, three counts frustrated murder, and multiple attempted murder against several suspects with the Provincial Prosecutor Office in Marawi City on March 2, 2023.
