CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: (Bukidnon shootout) Three were killed while a police officer was wounded in a shootout as law enforcers served warrants against a wanted person in Bukidnon Sunday, Aug. 21 2022.
A police report reaching here Wednesday identified the fatalities as Joseph Pateres y Aguilar, 39, a.k.a Dodong Gonzaga y Tatao, his live-in partner Marissa Libringka y Roceña, and Jun Plaza, an alleged accomplished.
Sgt. Arnie Diel, of the municipal police station of Quezon, was wounded on the left arm during the exchanged of gunfire. He was now in a stable condition while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bukidnon.
Maj. Noel D. Cano, chief of the Quezon town police station, said that the police were about to serve the warrant of arrest against Pateres at his residence on Purok 22 Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon Sunday morning when the shooting took place.
Cano said that Pateres fired at the approaching law enforcers hitting Diel on the arm, which prompted the policemen to retaliate resulting to a 20-minute firefight killing the three victims.
Recovered from the encounter site were one caliber .45 pistol, a hand grenade owned by Pateres and two unit caliber .38 revolver from the accomplished and his live-in partner.
Cano said that acting presiding Judge Carmel G. Grado of Region 11 in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte, issued the warrant of arrest with attempted murder against Pateres on May 6, 2019.
