3 farmers’ organizations to supply agri products to BJMP jails in Nueva Ecija

Three (3) agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Nueva Ecija will continue to supply rice and fresh chicken eggs to the six (6) BJMP jail systems within the province as the 3 ARBOs, together with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), renewed its marketing partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The 3 ARBOs who are involved in the marketing arrangement are the Nagkakaisang Magsasaka Agricultural PMPC from Brgy. Tabacao, Talavera, Nueva Ecija, the Bantug PMPC from Brgy. Bantug, Science City of Muñoz, and Divina Pastora MPC in Brgy. Mangino, Gapan City.

Irene Dela Cruz, Nagkakaisang Magsasaka Agricultural PMPC Manager expressed her gratitude to the agency saying that without the DAR, the farmers could not hurdle the challenges they are facing in terms of marketing their products.

“We are very lucky because DAR connects ARBOs to institutional buyers for them to have an established market,” she said.

Eden B. Ponio, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, led the signing of a marketing agreement under the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) program.

“It is imperative on our part to sustain the engagement of this partnership for us to become an instrument in fighting hunger and poverty in the province,” she said.

Ponio added that the implementation of the project is geared towards enhancing and sustaining the agricultural productivity of agrarian communities and building an adaptation measure toward the resiliency of the province.

JSupt Cristina P Castillo, BJMP-NE Provincial Administrator, likened the activity to the renewal of vows of married couples which serve as a reminder of the partners’ commitment to their common goal.

“Both agencies may have different mandates, but this partnership successfully met its main objectives of putting food on the tables of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and financial security on the part of the ARBs,’ she said.

The three ARBOs will supply rice and fresh chicken eggs to the six BJMP jail systems in the province, namely: Cabanatuan City District Jail of Male and Female Dormitories, Talavera Municipal Jail, Gapan City Jail, Guimba District Jail, and San Jose City District Jail.
