ZAMBOANGA CITY – Despite the goverment’s efforts to curb the drug menace in the country, drug dealers continue their illegal business until cops lured them to their own drugnet.
This time another big-time illegal drug dealers fell into the hands of government operatives in two separate operations in Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur.
Brig General Ronaldo Ylagan, PRO-9 regional director identified the three suspects as Jamael Omar, Salimah Amer, 32; and, Darwin Datoy, 35.
Gen Ylagan said Omar and Amer were arrested Thursday (July 8) by joint operatives of the local police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at around
12:15 p.m. in Purok Doña Aurora, Barangay Poblacion, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.
The police official said the raiding team not only arrested the suspects but also seized 500 grams of the suspected shabu packed in five plastic bags worth Ph3.4 million. Operatives also seized P900,000 boodle money topped with a genuine P1,000 marked money, a multicab vehicle, a cellular phone and other paraphernalia.
Menwhile, another operation was conducted Wednesday in Barangay Biasong, Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte, which also resulted to the arrest of a certain Darwin Datoy, 35. The raiding team also seized from the suspect, more or less, five medium-sized plastic sachets worth P68,000 and P500 marked money.
Gen Ylagan said government operatives conducted a major anti-drug operations following a series of surveillance to carefully study the movements and transaction of the suspects prior to entrapment operations.
The local police and PDEA operatives are now preparing to lodge charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
