CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Three members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters – Karialan Faction surrendered to government troops in Brgy. Zapakan, Radjah Buayan, Maguindanao this Wednesday afternoon (November 16).
Carrying their weapons, the three BIFFs surrendered to the troops of the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion with the help of the barangay officer in the area and the local government of Radjah Monkey.
Among the guns they surrendered are a Garand Rifle and two Carbine Rifles.
“They fear for their safety because of the enhanced capabilities of our Armed Forces, which is one of the reasons why they turned to the government and abandoned their armed struggle”, said Lt. Col. Benjamin Cadiente Jr., the Commanding Officer of the 33IB.
In this regard, Major General Roy Galido, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Army) Division and Joint Task Force Central continues to call on the remaining BIFF victims of circumstance and deception to turn to the government to avoid using more of military forces against them. “Our government is ready to welcome you and give you the necessary help so that you can start a new life”, said Maj. Gen. Galido.
So far the number of BIFF surrenders has reached 178 from the month of January until now.
