25 TVIs compete in 2019 Regional Skills Competition in NorMin

To give recognition to skilled workers in Northern Mindanao and give them the opportunity to compete in the national and international arena, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10 kicked-off today the 2019 Regional Skills Competition (RSC) at Cagayan de Oro Bugo School of Arts and Trades (COBSAT) Gym, here.

In his welcome message, TESDA Lanao del Norte Provincial Director El Cid Castillo said the regional skills competition is a venue to inform the general public on how good the skills of youth trainees and schools in the TVET sector.

Twenty-six (26) competitors and 25 experts from 25 Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) across the region took part in the two-day skills competition.

This year’s competition focuses on nine trade areas: Cooking, Restaurant Services, Mechatronics, Electronics, Automotive Technology, IT Network Systems Administration, Welding, Electrical Installation, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

The winners will advance to the zonal eliminations, where they will vie for a slot in the national finals. The national winners will represent the country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) World Skills Competition slated in Singapore next year.
