GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A village councilor and his brother were shot dead Friday by unidentified assassin along Laurel Street in Barangay Dadiangas North at around 6:30 p.m., police authorities reported.
Police investigators who immediately responded at the crime scene identified the fatalities as Enrico P Guererro, a former councilor of Barangay Kablon, Tupi, 50 year’s old; and his brother Remenesis, 43, all residents of the same municipality.
Colonel Gilberto Tuzon, city police director, said the victims were in a restaurant for dinner, and when they went out of the restaurant at around 6:30pm unidentified riding-in-tandem approached them, and without provocation peppered them with bullets, which resulted with their instant death.
Investigations disclosed that the brothers were already preparing to go home after dinner when they were waylaid by unidentified attackers.
The victims, according to police investigation, died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds from a .45 caliber pistol, as evident with the empty shells found at the crime scene.
“We are looking at all possible angles and our investigators are exhausting all resources to solve this incident,” the police official said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Ronnel Rivera immediately ordered a no-nonsense probe on the case, and got them identified as soon as possible.
The mayor told reporters that case investigators are now pursuing possible leads and motives of the killing. He pointed to illegal drugs and personal grudges as among the angles investigated by police probers. – PNA
