CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte – Two active members of the Communist Terrorist Group surrendered to the government among the soldiers of the 57th Infantry (Masikap) Battalion this Monday morning (February 6, 2023) in Sitio Upper Balayan, Barangay Basak, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
Recognized by Lt. Col. Guillermo Mabute Jr, 57IB Commander surrendered CTG members alias Mantong and alias Lalang who are adults and members of GF MUSA, Far South Mindanao Region.
Lt. added. Col. The two are struggling to return to their residence in Sitio Balayan, Brgy. The said town was destroyed as they left their weapons to avoid the continued focused military operation of the army against the terrorist CTG.
“Said personalities returned home in order to evade pressure from the focused military operations of our troops in the area where GF MUSA operates”, according to Lt. Col. Good.
603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Michael Santos of the 57IB in their intensive operation and successfully subdued the two CTG members.
“I urge every Masikap troopers to continue your endeavor in serving the people of Sultan Kudarat to make the province a safer place to live”, said Brig. Gen. saint
Invited by Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, Commander of the 6ID and Joint Task Force Central are the remaining members of the CTG in South-Central Mindanao to give peace a chance.
“I am calling to the remaining members of CTGs in the province of Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato and Sarangani to give peace a chance and be able to live a normal life with your family”, added Maj. Gen. Rillera.
This year, three (3) CTG members were arrested, four (4) were killed and eight (8) returned to the government. While seven (7) weapons and four (4) explosives were surrendered while eight (8) weapons and one (1) explosive were recovered from JTF Central operations.
