CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte- 150 Youths from different barangays of Remedios T. Romualdez in partnership with the 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion in close coordination with Local Government Unit of Remedios T Romualdez conducted a three-day Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) anchored on “Youth for Today, Tomorrow and the Future.”
The YLS aims to develop the youth to become effective leaders of today, a catalyst of change to promote peace and development in their respective communities. The Youth Leadership Summit is a three-day camp that aims to gather and empower the incoming youth leaders to become advocates for peace and enhance and mold their awareness of the important roles of the youth in nation-building.
YLS is also part of the long-term effort to end local communist armed conflict in the most vulnerable sectors of society and to protect youth from Communist Terrorist Group recruitment.
According to Hon. Richard Daquipil, Mayor of RTR “nga sa umaabot nga panahon ang kabataan mao nausab ang mamahimong leader sa ilang lugar. Hon. Maria Angelica Rosedell M Amante, Provincial Governor of Agusan del Norte said on her inspirational message “Nganong importante maning Youth Leadership Summit? Kay kamo na atong ugma dili kami, dili ako. Pagkawala namo kinsa may mupuli? Syempre kamo. Gibuhat nato ni para magiyahan mo para ang tanang desisyon nga inyong pagabuhaton naa nay epekto sa inyong tagsa-tagsang kaugmaon.” (“Why is the Youth Leadership Summit important? We are doing this to guide you so that all the decisions you make will have an impact on your respective futures.”)
According to Brigadier General George Banzon, Commander of 901st Brigade “Mao ni ang indikasyon nga buka ang inyong panlantaw para sa kaayuhan sa inyong komunidad. Ako naghandum nga dili lang kay peace ang atong sunod nga ibandera diri kung dili kalipay na ug kauswag diri sa lungsod sa RTR” (“This is the indication that your perspective is open for the good of your community. Your perspective is open for a good future and tomorrow for each of you. All the challenges that we will go through if you all understand each other and are united we can handle it. I wish that our next banner here is not only peace but also happiness and prosperity in the town of RTR”)
