LIGAN CITY —– Thirteen soldiers of the Army’s 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and six members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) sustained injuries when thier military vehicle fell into a ravine, around 6pm, Friday (March 5) in Barangay Lanipao, here.
They were brought to a private hospital in Iligan City. One of the soldiers is critically wounded due to wounds he sustained in his abdomen according to Lieutenant Colonel Domingo Dulay, 4th Mech commander.
The soldiers are part of the team who conducted an activity of the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Barangay Kalilangan. Dulay said initial report he received the soldiers were on their way back to thier company headquarters in Barangay Rogongon when the vehicle met mechanical error.
It was raining since early morning in Iligan City and according to Dulay, the slippery road was one of the factors of the incident.
“We were the last in the convoy because we have to pull the around 30 civilian vehicles that have difficulties in traversing the slippery roads,” Dulay said.
