BALTIMORE (MDN digital , April 28) – Indiscriminate firing of a lone gunman on Sunday night in Baltimore resulted to the death of one person and injuring seven others.
The gunman approached two cookouts and started firing at the crowd along the corners of Edmondson and Whitmore, and pointing his gun at several men and women.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said that based on initial investigation one of the victims ran towards the Perkins Square Baptist Church, Unfortunately he already sustained gunshot wound and died later. Six other wounded persons were rushed to nearby hospitals but they have non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still 'facing a blank wall' as to the motive of the gunman. But investigators clarified that while the shooting incidents were near the two churches – Doswell Cathedral and Perkins Square – it did not have any relation at all.
Acting Mayor Bernard "Jack" Young challenged the residents to report any information that will lead to the immediate arrest of the suspect, or the motive of indescriminately firing innocent civilians.
