CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City: Twenty villages in Northern Mindanao were declared drug-free as of December 13, 2023, a senior police officer said Monday.
Police Regional Director Brig. Gen. Ricardo G Layug, Jr., said that a total of 1,482 or 79.42 percent villages across Region10 have been declared drug free.
Layug identified the following cleared villages as follows: Brgy. 2, Talakag, Bukidnon; Brgy. Tongantongan, Valencia City, Bukidnon; Brgy. Vista Villa, Sumilao, Bukidnon; Brgy. Panaliwad-on, Salvador, Lanao del Norte; Brgy. Dalama, Tubod, Lanao del Norte; Brgy. Boundary, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental; Brgy. Bitibut, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Libertad Bajo, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental; Brgy. Cogon, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Napaliran, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Baliwagan, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Pagawan, Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Mahayahay, Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Bagubod, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Murallon, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Mimbalagon, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Gracia, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. Madahilag, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental; Brgy. 25, Cagayan de Oro City; and Brgy. Santo Rosario, Iligan City.
He said that 384 villages in Northern Mindanao remained affected by illegal drug activities, which the law enforcers are now closely monitoring.
Layug said that the cooperation of the local community, the law enforcement agencies, and the local government units are instrumental in the success of the anti โ illegal drugs drive in Northern Mindanao. -0-
