Manolo Fortich, Bukinon — The Tulong Paghahanap Buhay para sa mga Disadvantaged and Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)- Manolo Fortich is slated to give barangays a new look.

According to Joanne Abella, Administrative Aide-IV of PESO-Manolo Fortich, community beautification is the focus of TUPAD program this year since most beneficiaries are assigned at their respective barangays.

“Social works, magpintal, (ug) landscaping (ilang possible work). Picturan gyud nila ilang barangay karon kung unsa ilang nabuhat nga kausaban sa ilang barangay,” Abella said.

The beneficiaries are required to work four hours a day in 16 days to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. This is in accordance to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Order 219-20 which states the guidelines on the implementation of TUPAD.

This year, there are 976 TUPAD beneficiaries in the 1st District of Bukidnon with 413 of those from Manolo Fortich. The budget is sourced from the office of Cong. Malou Acosta-Alba. In these trying times, the TUPAD program is a helping hand to the residents of Manolo Fortich.

Josephine Coles, 53, and a resident of Brgy. Tankulan is one of the TUPAD beneficiaries. She said that the program is a big help for her family. She worked part-time in Cagayan de Oro City during weekends and her salary cannot suffice their needs.

“Okay lang kay nakatrabaho ko. At least, nakadugang-dugang sa among ginagmay-gagmay nga kinahanglan sa balay,” she said.
PESO-Manolo Fortich dispatched the beneficiaries to their respective assignments on November 16.  Coles was assigned at the TESDA building in Tankulan.

“Hopefully dili nila (beneficiaries) sayangan ang programa nga gihatag sa gobyerno sa ilaha bisan tuod gamay ra, pero at least makatabang mi sa ilaha. Makabarog sila gikan sa pagkawala sa ilang trabaho ug maka-ipon panggasto puhon sa pagpangita ug trabaho utro,” expressed Abella.

Aside from the fresh graduates, and displaced and disadvantaged workers in the municipality, PESO-Manolo Fortich also prioritized the jobless Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) from Manila and Returning Overseas Workers (ROF) who are unemployed during the pandemic.
