MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Aug. 9 (PIA)--To produce a regular pool of highly-skilled, educated and competitive technical graduates demanded by the industry, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10 is set to build the Provincial Training Center in Libertad, here.
"We never decline the opportunity to have the Provincial Training Center here in our municipality. The first usufruct contract agreement that we will be signed should be only for five years but because of the negotiations made by Engr. Nazario D. Villamor Jr. and approval of the Sanggunian Bayan, we have inked a 10-year agreement," Mayor Leonardo L. Uy, Jr. said.
The establishment of the Provincial Training Center-Misamis Oriental will provide services to students not only within the municipality but also to their neighboring areas such as Lugait, Manticao, Naawan, Laguindingan, and Gitagum.
“Today is perhaps one of the greatest days in the history of the municipality as this will usher in an era of a close partnership between TESDA and the Municipality of Libertad, and of course the much-needed development in the town. To TESDA, thank you so much for always finding ways to bring the agency closer to the people especially with the thrust in organic farming together with other agricultural training programs,” Vice Mayor Christian Zayre said.
For her part, TESDA-10 Regional Director Tarhata Mapandi extended their gratitude to the local government unit in making sure that TESDA-10 will not only use the second floor as a training center as the LGU also allowed the usage of the 1,000 sq.m area for the additional training programs of TESDA.
The PTC will serve as the training arm for skills development of the middle level manpower in Libertad, Misamis Oriental. Through PTC, skilled workers can get certified according to competency assessment standards, employability of graduates will be enhanced, and economic opportunities to technical vocational education and training clients will be assured.
