Lanao del Norte PPOC realigns 2020 funds for COVID-19 measures

The Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Lanao del Norte realigned its funds for unimplemented programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) in 2020 to pave the way for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) measures.

The move was unanimously agreed by the body during the 4th Quarter Joint Meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) held at the Multi-Purpose Building in Capitol Compound, Tubod, Lanao del Norte on Tuesday, November 17.

Among the 2020 peace and order programs, projects, and activities that were not implemented due to the pandemic are advocacy and programs on anti-illegal drugs, provincial volunteers on peace and development congress, purchase of guns and ammunition for provincial jail and civil security unit, and capacity development program for provincial jail personnel and civil security units totaling Php11.9 million.

The Php11.9 million will be allocated to fund the procurement of reagents and kits for COVID-19 testing (Php8 million) and procurement of PPEs (Php3.9 million).

Lanao del Norte is the first LGU in Northern Mindanao operating a COVID-19 testing laboratory

"We have been praised by the Department of Health Region 10 for having a good system for returning OFWs and LSIs as we do the testing upon acceptance of LGUs," said Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo.

"And right now, we are spending so much. We only charge minimal, and the test kits alone dako ang atong gasto," she added.

The Governor emphasized that their efforts are intended to secure the people of Lanao del Norte from the COVID-19.  (APB/PIA-ICIC)
