Celebrating great harvest, Camiguin’s 41st Lanzones Festival is all set, October 18 through a virtual launching and conduct of various online activities.
“Kini sila nga naka-line up nga activities sugod Domingo, then every day padayon ni siya. Naa mi’y mechanics ana makita sa (These activities are lined up starting Sunday (October 18) then these continue every day. We have the mechanics that can be viewed at) www.https://www.facebook.com/lanzonesfestival,” Camiguin Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said during the Talakayan sa PIA, October 15.
Among the major online activities of the festival include the Handurawan Online Photo Contest, which is open to all photo enthusiasts whether amateur hobbyists or professional photographers. With the theme, “Celebrating the Memories of Lanzones Festival,” each entry of the photo contest must answer the question, “What memories of the festival you miss the most?”
TikTok lovers could also show their talents through the Buwahan Tiktok Challenge, which has the solo, duo and family categories. Challengers must create a content that is aligned with the theme, “Celebrating Lanzones Festival at Home.” Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners of each category.
Designers and those with keen eye for arts may also join the Aggama Ki Ta Paksoy Design Competition. Interested participants may submit their apparel creation, which can be used in a casual lunch or dinner in a corporate or business setting, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The provincial government also urges all Camiguingnon students to join the Digital Cover Poster Design Contest with the theme, “Camiguin: Embracing the New Normal.” The artwork may be a digital illustration/painting, a single photo, a photo collage or mixed as long as it is an original artwork.
For modern video enthusiasts, Camiguin Vlogging Contest is also open to all residents of the province, whether currently residing in Camiguin or not. One video entry is allowed per content creator and must focus on the theme, “Camiguin: Discover More.”
Towns in the province are also urged to join the Ag Adorno Ki, a municipal hall dress-up contest. With the theme, “New Normal. New Moments. New Memories,” the contest aims highlight the lanzones fruit, local produce and/or legends of the towns in Camiguin.
The province’s products, crafts and delicacies can be availed during the festivity through the Ugmad Online 2020. Camiguingnons can also view the culinary heritage of the province online through the Camiguin Foodscapes, which will be aired at Lanzones Festival Facebook page.
“Virtual gyud ni tanan wala gyud ni’y tapok2 except lang kining TikTok. Pero kining TikTok sa balay ni, pamilya ni. Good for two, pamilya, mag-TikTok basta sulod ra sa balay. Unique kay ni pero mao naman gyud ni ang panahon karon,” Romualdo said.
(These activities are all done virtually and there are no gatherings except for TikTok. But for TikTok, this is done in the house with the family. Be it good for two or family, TikTok should be done at home. This is unique but this has to be done in this time of health crisis)
As for the Lanzones harvest for this year, Romualdo said they are expecting to harvest 100,000 boxes at 20 kilos per box. Compared to last year’s 250,000-300,000 boxes of Lanzones, this year’s harvest is a bit low due to the weather condition.
Lanzones in Camiguin is currently sold at P15 per kilo straight from the farmers and P30 per kilo, which already includes the packaging and transportation to Camiguin markets. (RTP/PIA10)
