Caraga PNP seize more than P100K worth of drugs, suspect nab amidst COVID-19

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City--------- Despite of the intensive efforts of Police Regional Office (PRO) to maintain peace and order and ensure public safety and security amidst the implementation of Community Quarantine due to COVID-19, PNP Caraga does not undermine its anti-illegal drugs campaign where Php119, 180.00 worth of shabu were seized and drugs suspect was arrested in Butuan City yesterday, March 21.

Police Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel Jr, PRO13 Director reported that personnel of Butuan City Police Station (BCPS) 1, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of BCPS 4 and DEU Butuan City Intel Branch in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 13 conducted anti-illegal drugs operation through buy-bust in Purok 10, Barangay Baan Km. 3, Butuan City around 4:15PM yesterday which resulted in the arrest of Vincent C Gaje, 39 years old, married, jobless and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Bading, Butuan City.

Seized during the buy-bust operation were four sachets of suspected shabu weighing 10.10grams with Dangerous Drug Board value of Php119,180.00, Php1,000.00 marked money, one cellular phone and Php380.00 cash money.

Gaje is now facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of RA No. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“I assure the Caraganons that despite of many undertakings of PNP Caraga during this time of medical crisis, we will continue our fight against all forms of criminality specially against illegal drugs,” PBGEN Esquivel, Jr said.

“I continue to urge all Caraganons to STAY AT YOUR HOME and perform hygienic activities to keep you and your family safe from COVID-19. Also, continue monitoring your television and radios to keep updated on the latest news regarding this pandemic we are facing today,” he added.
