Kagawad Lagumen leads NDPR Week culmination in Canitoan

CANITOAN,  Cagayan de Oro City - No less than the very active and energetic Barangay Canitoan Councilor Marlyn Y. Lagumen headed the culmination of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week on July 22 in different zones in the barangay.

Kag Lagumen said they have identified 533 persons with disabilities (PWD) from zone 1 up to zone 10 with the help of the Barangay Council and leaders of the PWD sector.

During the distribution activities in different zones, social distancing and wearing of masks were also observed to make everyone safe from the deadly coronavirus disease.

"We are surprised because we have actually identified over 200 card-bearing PWDs so we only prepared over 200 food packs but then since the total over all PWDs in the barangay were 533 so we have adjusted the food packs. I also thanked Philippine Island Kids Foundation for immediately assisting us with the food packs that made the distributions very successful," Kag. Lagumen said.

The beneficiaries received sacks of rice, 1 dressed chicken, milk, and hygiene kits comprised of toothpaste, laundry and bath soaps. 

Lagumen thanked all those who also helped in making this endeavor a success, most especially to the Barangay Council in partnership with the Philippine Island Kids Foundation for distributing the food packs in 10 zones in the barangay. Lagumen also thanked Maam Liza, Lando Dumaolao, Barangay Health Workers, barangay police, BNS, SK Council, barangay staff, and his fellow members in the barangay Council.

Meanwhile, the beneficiary-PWDs and other persons with difficulties were very thankful to the efforts made by the Barangay Council of Canitoan with its very supportive incumbent Barangay Chairperson Joshua Taboclaon.

The beneficiaries also thanked the lead mover kag Marlyn Lagumen for a very laudable program of helping the PWD sector and other underprivilege members of society in this times of the pandemic.
