4ID Troops avail Local Absentee Voting; Gears up for May 13 Elections

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Soldiers of the 4th Infantry “Diamond”
Division have participated in the conduct of Local Absentee Voting (LAV) by the
Commission on Elections (COMELEC) at the 4ID Grandstand yesterday, April 30, 2019.

The office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, 4ID, together with Atty. Alili
Dayo-Ramirez, Misamis Oriental Provincial COMELEC Supervisor and Atty. Ramil Acol,
Cagayan de Oro City Election Officer headed the conduct of the said activity.

“As members of the Philippine Army and Filipino citizen, we also want to exercise our
right to suffrage. Through the LAV, we will also have ample time to prepare for Election
Day.”, Cpt. Regie Go, 4th Division Public Affairs Officer said.

Atty. Acol, on his part said, “The COMELEC gave our AFP personnel the opportunity to
practice their right to suffrage hence, the conduct of LAV. We assure our Absentee Voting
participants that their ballots and votes will be treated with utmost confidentiality.” “We
are happy to have assisted our Army personnel. We also look forward that together with
the Department of Education and PNP, we will be able to conduct a safe and successful
election on May 13”, Acol added.

Meanwhile Maj. Gen. Franco Nemesio M Gacal, Commander 4th ID, emphasized, "We
thank COMELEC for giving us the chance to exercise our right to suffrage. We did this to
have more time to prepare and deploy all available forces on Election Day.” "We would
like to assist our partners, the COMELEC, PNP and DepEd in conducting a Free, Honest,
Peaceful, Orderly and Credible 2019 Elections", Gacal added

Other units of 4th ID also participated in the early voting which was conducted inside their
respective camps.

The LAV allows the AFP, PNP and media personalities who cannot vote in their respective
localities, to perform their right ahead of the National Elections. Those who joined the
absentee voting can only vote for candidates running for the Senate and Party-list.
