MARAWI CITY -- The displaced families here started to receive rice assistance from the people of Taiwan through the World Vision Philippines.
The 66,000 sacks rice donation were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and will be distributed to the displaced families who were profiled through the Kathanor - biometric profiling spearheaded by Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM).
The 661 displaced families, who are currently sheltered in Boganga Lakeview shelter, are the first recipients of the said donation.
In a turnover ceremony of the rice donation held last Sept. 25, Jerry Cheng-an Chuang of Taipeir Economic and Cultural Office said that their assistance symbolizes that Taiwan is willing to help the displaced families wrought by the Marawi siege.
“This turnover is a testimony that the people of Marawi are not forgotten and we will always be by their side,” said Chuang.
Meanwhile, DSWD-10 Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga-Libang said the turnover “is a symbol of friendship between the Filipino people and the citizens of Taiwan.”
The 12th Civil-Military Operations Battalion and various military units assisted in the distribution of the rice sacks in Boganga Lakeview Shelter. (LEAntonio/PIA10)
