CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - STEAG State Power Inc (SPI), a world-class energy company, is one of the three awardees for "Best In Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)", during the recently concluded 8th Mindanao Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs Awards, consistently organized by Mindanao Daily News Corporation, purposely to recognize companies, entities and leaders' outstanding performance which contributed to greater develoment in Mindanao.

Two other awardees were Cagayan de Oro Light and Power Company (Cepalco) and SM Cagayan de Oro.

The recent awarding ceremonies was held at Limketkai Luxe Hotel on December 13, 2019, the biggest and the tallest hotel in Southern Philippines, which is based in Cagayan de Oro City. It was well-attended by dignitaries and awardees all over Mindanao, including Martin Andanar, one of President Duterte's cabinet members. Andanar is now President Duterte's Communications Secretary.

SPI bagged the award as "Best in Corporate Social Responsiblity" (CSR) because of its tremendous implementation of worthwhile projects which help many people in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, as well as in other aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandated to big companies operating in the country.

SPI is cited for its excellent CSR programs "which afforded economic, social, and environmental benefits to its stakeholders, clientele, and consumers".

The award further notes that SPI's "environmental and social philanthropy and volunteering efforts for the community helped forge a stronger bond between workers and consumers and the community as a whole".

BusinessWeek Mindanao Publisher Dante Sudaria, together with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Chairperson Orlando Ravanera and PCOO Secretary and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development (CORD) Region 10 Martin Andanar presented the award to Jerome Soldevilla in behalf of SPI.
