SEVEN New People's Army (NPA) rebels surrendered at the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office last September 11.
According to Philippine National Police (PNP) 10 spokesperson Lt. Col. Mardi Hortillosa, the highest ranking rebel is the secretary of Guerilla Front 89 which operates in Malaybalay City, Cabanglasan, San Fernando and Impasug-ong.
The rest served as logistics and camp lookouts.
Hortillosa added that the surrenderees brought with them a caliber .30 sniper rifle with ten bullets, a homemade type revolver, caliber 5.56 with six bullets, two caliber .38 revolvers with three bullets and three homemade shotguns with eight 12-gauge ammunition.
It was learned that the youngest of the rebels is 28 and the oldest is 55.
Hortillosa said the reasons why the rebels surrendered are that they can't take anymore the hardship, tiredness, hunger, security of life and unfulfilled promises.
The former rebels are now waiting for the processing of their documents to qualify as E-CIP beneficiaries.
