VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental - The annual celebration of fiesta and Christmas in Villanueva town from December 1-31, this province, opened with a big bang and funfare, with the lighting up of the giant torch (sulo in vernacular).
Thousands of residents and expectators from neighboring towns and Cagayan de Oro witnessed the celebration and were amazed by the lighting of the giant torch, the first time to happen in this fastest-growing municipality of Misamis Oriental.
This big event in Villanueva, which sets as the opening salvo of the twin celebration of the town's fiesta and the Christmas, was realized with the brilliant idea of town mayor Jennie Rosalie T. Uy, supported by the very active and energetic Congresswomn Juliet T. Uy of the 2nd Congressional District.
Since Mayor Uy won as the new mayor of Villanueva, there is much potential that the town would continue to develop in the next few years with the awesome and dedicated leadership of the new mayor.
In her recent speeches, Mayor Uy vowed to infuse worthwhile projects that would help the people alleviate from poverty. Several livelihood projects and other development plans that would give more job opportunities for the people of Villanueva, are now among the mission and vision of Mayor Jennie Rosalie T. Uy.
Just recently, Mayor Uy urged people in business to submit to her office any vacancy so that said vacancies would be listed in the local government unit's online page. Uy said the online directory of available jobs would be a great help to her constituents looking for employment opportunities.
