FORMER Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Gregorio "Goyo" Larrazabal is rallying Filipinos to register for the upcoming 2022 elections.
Larrazabal said that out of ten million expected new voters, only 950 have registered as of December 2020.
Comelec reopened the period for registration on September 1.
Voter registration is conducted Mondays to Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with Fridays dedicated for disinfection unless the concerned local government unit assigns a different day for it.
In November, the poll body opened its online portal, iRehistro for voters' registration and updating of voter records. While it allows eligible Filipinos to turn in application forms online, registrants must still appear personally before their respective local Comelec office or for overseas Filipinos, their concerned Philippine embassy or consulate.
"Yes, not everyone will share the same political views, but by encouraging them to register and vote, you help them as well in making their voice heard.Yes, not everyone will share the same political views, but by encouraging them to register and vote, you help them as well in making their voice heard," Larrazabal said.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Register as a voter and vote on May 9, 2022.
