CAGAYAN de Oro City--The alleged gang leader who shot and killed the police officer manning the checkpoint in Misamis Oriental was killed Friday morning, the police said here.
Lt. Col. Robert Roy Bahian, the provincial police director, said that the fourth suspect known as “Alias Bulaw,” was cornered in the village of Tabo, in Libertad, Misamis Oriental.
The two suspects, earlier captured, pointed to “Bulaw” as the leader who shot and killed P/Sgt. Ronald “Boboy” Caapuyan, 41, at a checkpoint in Libertad, Misamis Oriental.
“Bulaw” reportedly resisted arrest prompting the law enforcers to fire, killing “Bulaw.” Recovered from Bulaw was a hand grenade, amulets and two mobile phones, Bahian said.
The alleged gang leader sustained multiple gunshot wounds, which resulted to “Bulaw’s” instantaneous death, he said.
Bahian said that the police are still trying to determine the true identity of “Bulaw” who possessed several identification cards.
He said that the police are still in pursuit of the remaining suspect believed to be still in the vicinity of Libertad. “With the help of the civilians, the remaining fugitive will fall anytime,” Bahian said.
He said that the civilians tipped off the operatives about the presence of the suspect whose picture was earlier circulated and distributed to residents of Libertad and its outlying villages.
