MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur -- The Bangsamoro Government is set to create the Bangsamoro Youth Commission as a replacement for the Office on Bangsamoro Youth Affairs (OBYA).
Dr. Marjanie Macasalong, concurrent executive director of OBYA said the bill for the creation of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission, is now on its second reading in the Bangsamoro Parliament.
“The BYC will be patterned to National Youth Commission and will also exercise the autonomous privilege given to the BARMM,” Macasalong said.
He further said there will be minor changes in BYC’s mandate, powers, and functions in order to widen and strengthen its scope.
OBYA was created under the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) to plan, prepare, and implement development programs that will address the concerns of the region’s youth sector.
Macasalong said the BYC will address one of the main challenges of the previous administration which was the coordination of OBYA with other departments in the ARMM.
“We would strengthen the coordination of our office with the other ministries in order to maximize the programs and activities related to the youth. (Bureau of Public Information)
