KORONADAL CITY (MDN Mindanao News digital, September 17) - Twenty passengers have died as the truck they were riding fell off a ravine Tuesday morning in a far-flung Barangay Lamsalome in T’boli town, South Cotabato.
The names of those who died have not been gathered yet as bodies are still accounted for after they were retrieved from the crash site.
T'boli Mayor Dibu Tuan, told reporters his own rescue team accounted 16 bodies at the crash site, close to a hundred meters from the road.
But a report from South Cotabato, the death has already reached at least 20 people. The police said 15 people died instantly due to the impact of the incident, while other critically-injured persons were immediately rushed at the nearest hospitals. Five of those brought to different hospitals have already expired.
Eleven of those injured passengers were brought to South Cotabato Provincial Hospital; one at Upper Valley Community Hospital, one at Landero Clinic and Hospital and another one at a hospital in Surallah town.
Municipal social welfare officer of T'boli, Jerry Magbanua, told reporters the incident occured around 9:30 a.m. while the victims were going home from a night beach party in General Santos City. ###
