ILIGAN City-- The 28th Mindanao Business Conference (28th MinBisCon) dubbed as the biggest business conference in Mindanao opens today (September 11) in this Majestic City of Waterfalls with the theme “Mindanao – The Emerging Investment Destination.”
Organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc. (CCIIFI) the program proper will be held at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium at Barangay Tibanga.
Registration already began yesterday at the Atrium of Robinson’s Place Iligan with a Franchising Seminar at Max’s Restaurant by the Philippine Franchise Association.
Today’s events start with the soft opening this morning of the trade exhibits/food bazaar
at the MSU-IIT Gym Exhibit Area and two technical sessions at GoHotels Iligan (Overview of the Halal Industry and Requirements for Halal Certification by DOST-Region X and a by invitation only seminar on
Chamber Management by the Phil Chamber Development Institute (PCCI).
Friday, September 13 events kicks off with Franchise Negosyo Para sa Iligan (a free seminar on Expo Business Matching) at Robinson’s Place Iligan Atrium.
The MinBizCon Program Proper starts at 9AM at the MSU-IIT gym with the Opening & Ribbon Cutting of 28th MinBizCon Trade Exhibit and Opening ceremonies at 9:30AM-12NN.
Expected to grace the opening rites are the chief executives of the host LGUs led by Iligan City Mayor Celso G. Regencia, and Iligan del Norte Provincial Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo, PCCI President Alegria Sibal-Limjoco, PCCI X Governor Ma. Teresa R. Alegrio, and CCIFI President Reggie Punongbayan of the host chamber.
The speech of keynote speaker US Ambassador to the Philippines HE Kim Sung Yong will be read by John C. Law to be followed by the plenary sessions in the afternoon after the lunch break.
The first plenary session on Partnerships in Marawi Rehabilitation will feature Rehab in Marawi City:
Opportunities for Partnership with the Private Sector by Sec. Eduardo del Rosario, Chairman, Task Force Bangon Marawi and HUDCC; and BARMM Priority Projects for Marawi Rehabilitation by BARMM Chief Minister Hon. Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim.
The second plenary on Investment Opportunities in Northern Mindanao will be kicked off by MinDA Chair Sec. Emmanuel Piñol on Emerging Investment Opportunities in Mindanao followed by Tourism Sec. Berna Romulo-Puyat.
She will be followed by Aboitiz InfraCapital Chief Operating Officer Cosette Canilao who will present
Developing Vital Gateways in Mindanao (Expansion of the Laguindingan International Airport) and
Phividec Administrator Atty. Franklin M. Quijano who will present A018 Development Implications in the Countryside.
The third plenary on Business Support Programs will feature Science for Change Program (S4CP)
By DOST X Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban, and Business Development through Innovation
with MSU-IIT Chancellor Dr. Sukarno Tanggol.
The day’s events will be capped by the Mayor’s Night/Welcome Dinner Party to be hosted by the LGU Iligan City at the MSU-IIT Gym with Iligan City Mayor Hon. Celso Regencia, Iligan City Mayor and an “Invest in Iligan” presentation.
MinBizCon Day 4 kicks off with a plenary on Global Opportunities for Mindanao featuring Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabrian of the Indonesian Consulate-Davao and Brunei Consulate Pengiran Yusuf Kesteria, Executive Chair of the BIMP-EAGA Business Council Brunei.
A plenary on Challenges for Key Mindanao Infrastructure will be led off by Reiner Dizon, VP-Strategy & Business Development, Republic Cement Services Inc. who will speak on Republic Cement Contributing to Mindanao Nation Building and Power Source PH Energy Corp. Pres. Ricardo G. Lazatin on Powering Up Mindanao.
Part II of the MinBizCon will focus on the Mindanao Leg of SULONG PILIPINAS with the Introduction & Workshop Mechanics by Dept. of Finance (DOF) Asst. Sec. Tony Lambino, Strategy, Economics & Results Group; followed by Updates on Zero-to-10 Point Socioeconomic Agenda by DOF Usec. Karl Kendrik T. Chua, of the Strategy, Economics & Results Group.
The delegates will work through lunch with the Workshop: Identification of Actionable Recommendations for 2019-2022 to be followed by Opportunities for Developing Mindanao Agriculture
with Roberto C. Amores, Chairman, Agri Committee & Vice Chair, International Affairs and an update on Key Infrastructure Projects by DPWH.
Finally, the closing ceremonies will start with the presentation of the 28th MinBizCon Policy Agenda and Top 10 Actionable Recommendations to President Rodrigo R. Duterte by PCCI VP for Mindanao Merlou S. Quisumbing, VP for Mindanao and the conference closes with the speech of the President.
