Central Mindanao experiences quake anew

CENTRAL Mindanao was hit anew by another earthquake at 2:11 this afternoon with a magnitude of 6.9 and at an epicenter northwest of Padada, Davao del Sur.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the tectonic quake is 30 kilometers deep. Meanwhile, the Cagayan de Oro City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) experienced Intensity 4 during the tremor. There is no imminent threat of a tsunami.

Christmas parties at a high-rise hotel in Cagayan de Oro City were disrupted as guests were told to come out as a precaution. A netizen from Davao City shared a video of an electricity transformer emitting sparks, causing people to panic on the ground. Fresh road cracks were observed in the streets of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. Some structures at Ground Zero in Padada have collapsed.
