July 22, 2019

At the 2019 Petron Kalayaan Cup 12-hour endurance run held at the Clark International Speedway last June 12, Team Race Form Garage 2233, driving a Mazda Miata Global Cup Car, emerged as the overall champion. Powered by Petron Blaze 100 Euro 6—recognized as the best gasoline in the country—the Miata was able to complete 274 laps of the 4.2-km track during the 12-hour run. Team Race Form Garage 2233 is managed by Francis Godinez with Antonio Brias, Don Pastor, Enrique Hormillo, and Jason Choachuy as drivers.      Petron-sponsored teams also performed well in other Independence Day race categories. Driving a Honda Civic, Mon Dimapilis, Danby Yaptinchay, Ditrie Villacorta, and Allen Escoto of the Petron Blaze Racing Team won the Class 2 championship with 220 laps. At the same time, Carlo Consumido’s Petron Tora Tora team with Chad Parian, Walter Rillorta, Francis de los Reyes, and Paolo Yaptinchay on a Honda Civic hatchback finished 1st runner-up in the Class 1 category.      The Petron Kalayaan Cup is an endurance race traditionally held during the Philippine Independence Day. A car is driven by a team of alternating drivers attempting to complete as many laps as possible in the race circuit. The official fuel for all competing cars is Petron Blaze 100 Euro 6 with its Triaction performance advantages, (1) better engine protection for longer engine life; (2) better mileage for longer drives; and (3) better power.      As the industry leader, Petron is also a major force in Philippine motorsports, providing support for such events as the Toyota Vios Cup, Formula 4 Southeast Asia, Asian Karting Series, IAME Karting, Kalayaan Cup, Rainforest Challenge (Diesel), to name a few.

Donsals debuts 35 new business class units to ply Initao-CDO route

July 15, 2019

MAVERICK PUV operator Donald Rey Ellarina, also known as Donsals, unveiled on Monday (July 15, 2019) 35 new business class units as part of his contribution to the government's PUV modernization program. It is another landmark to the homegrown public transport firm which started its roots in the western part of Misamis Oriental plying state-of-the-art jeepneys in the 1990s. When the PUV trend in the Philippines transitioned to airconditioned vans in the 2000s, Donsals led the bandwagon, ditched its old open-air jeepney fleet and pioneered public van transport in Northern Mindanao, still plying the western Misamis Oriental route from Initao municipality to Cagayan de Oro City. Today marks another breakthrough for the company. The all-new Toyota Coaster six wheelers have a 29-seat capacity each and are all Euro 5 compliant. Each unit has its own WiFi connectivity on board and a 22" flat screen TV. It also has a back compartment with styro boxes provided for passengers who have wet goods. For safety purposes, all units are equipped with close-circuit security cameras. All drivers are likewise instructed to keep the maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. With GPS connectivity, a warning will automatically blink at Donsals headquarters in Laguindingan should any driver breaches the speed limit. Ellarina said drivers who violate this policy will face one-week suspension. These and other features are indeed proof that the PUV modernization program of the government can be a success.

IPC Holds 2019 Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO)

July 1, 2019

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) held its Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO) at IPC Plant at the Laguna Technopark in Binan, Laguna. On its 14th year, ISSO has been competitive and was definitely a fierce one as each participant evidently did not hold back in showcasing their skills and knowledge in service.      IPC President Hajime Koso congratulated the participants for being the chosen representatives of their respective Isuzu dealers. In his welcome remarks, he said, “Today, you are also called ‘Olympians’, because you represent the best of our dealership networks, and I predict that you will exceed your own expectations. After this local staging, the world is waiting,” Koso said, referring to Isuzu World Technical Competitions where IPC’s Team Pilipinas, comprised of the winners of the ISSO, has performed consistently and exceptionally well since 2006.      Koso also thanked Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP) for the invaluable contribution to the development of the IPC After-sales program through the automotive servicing vocational course program that Mr. Ida started in 2008 in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and World Vision Philippines—an international Christian, humanitarian, advocacy organization      “Through this groundbreaking vocational course, IPC and its partners have been able to give once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our young, less-privileged but hardworking Filipinos to be part of the Isuzu family. IHSP has been instrumental in improving not only the quality of our aftersales service to our loyal customers, but more importantly, the lives of many poor Filipinos,” Koso added.      In his message, Mr. Ida thanked IPC for giving him the opportunity to have an impact on the lives of the Filipino people. “I have always believed that the best asset of any company is its people. And when you bring out the best from your people, the company is able to perform at its best. The Isuzu-Tesda Auto Mechanic training course program is solid proof that Filipinos, when given the opportunity, can rise to world-class levels. I am very thankful that our students and graduates chose to stay with us to share their talents and time. I leave you now feeling truly confident that what we have started will continue in good hands for years to come.”      It was nearly sundown when the winners were finally announced.  For this year’s edition of the ISSO, the Champion for Service Technician Category were Mark Anthony Arroyo (TESDA Tacloban Alumni) and Jan Michael Manzon, representative of Isuzu Cavite; ArjhayPulvera (TESDA Tacloban Alumni) and Reynaldo Gepulle as first runner up from Isuzu Alabang; and Harvay Jay T.
