IPC, TESDA Hold Graduation Ceremonies for 15th Batch of Auto Mechanic Training Program in Tacloban City

April 4, 2019

Isuzu Philippines Corporation, in pursuit of its corporate social responsibility objective of uplifting the lives of the youth through free training and education, held the graduation ceremonies of the 15th batch of the Isuzu-TESDA Auto Mechanic Training Program at the TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) Region 8 Training Center Compound in Barangay Abucay, Tacloban City, Leyte province.      On the same occasion, IPC and TESDA conducted the recognition ceremony for the 16th and 17th batches of the Program.      Started in November 2008 conceptualized by Isuzu Motors Limited (IML), the vocational training program has seen IML, IPC, and TESDA collaborating to impact the lives of a total of 248 disadvantaged youth. IML supports the ISUZU-TESDA Auto Mechanic Training Center Project by providing funds needed for the project operation while IPC hasprovided technical guidance to both students and trainers. On the other hand, TESDA provides the training center, equipped with all the needed equipment, to implement the training programs up to National Certificate (NC) Levels III and IV. After the trainees’ graduation, both entities actively endorse these graduates to industry firms (preferably within the IPC network) that need highly skilled mechanics for permanent jobs.      The 15th batch had a total of 18 graduates come up on stage to receive their certificates. The moment these youngsters receive their certificates have often been a highly emotional experience, as their parents tearfully embrace their sons or daughters, knowing that their lives have most likely turned for the better from then on.      This opening up of opportunities was reflected in the inspiring message of IML Senior Counselor Yoshinori IDA when he addressed the 15th batch of graduates and Batch 16 and 17 trainees: “Since you left home and your parents two years ago, you have worked diligently so much so that all of you have successfully passed the NCIV. Your father, mother, teachers and everyone involved are all delighted with your achievements. Tomorrow, you will set off on a new journey after two years of hard work and turn your dream into a reality. You will be pursuing different career paths but keep a close-knit relationship with your fellow graduates and march forward.”      IDA added shining examples of past graduates’ achievements in the local and global automotive arena.      “ 32 of them have chosen to work overseas and the number is increasing year by year. In October 2018, two of the graduates joined a dealership in Tokyo, Japan and one graduate currently works for Isuzu. I expect every year two or three students will be offered to work in Japan.      “In the prestigious Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition in Japan that sees many countries participate in, Team Philippines has placed consistently in the top three since 2014. We were champions in 2015 and 2018. The graduates of this program, although still early on in their service careers, participated in the contest. They have proven that we truly produce world-class graduates.”      With executives and officers of Isuzu Motors Limited from Japan, IPC, and BM Domingo Motor Sales Inc as witnesses, the graduating Batch 15 students as well as the upcoming Batch 16 and 17 trainees gathered together with their families to convey their gratitude for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.      Rommel V. Fuerte, Executive Director of World Vision Development Foundation, which serves as the program partner, closed the program with these inspiring words:      “The lives of 248 families and their children have been transformed for the better. Indeed, the goodness of helping even just one child goes a long way. The beauty of this program is that the benefits to the child and to his or her family do not end there. Through the facilitation of spiritual formation activities and sessions, our trainees were given the opportunity to be solidly founded on values and spiritual well-being. All our graduates are living testaments to our concerted effort -- IPC, TESDA, and World Vision.”

Suzuki Philippines Holds Three-leg Activation for All-new Jimny All-Grip Pro

March 24, 2019

Suzuki Philippines brought home the much-talked about vehicle for Filipino adventurers- the all-new Jimny All-Grip Pro. The price of the all-new Jimny All-Grip Pro was revealed in a recently held launch in Taguig City. The launch was part of a three-leg activation that was strategically mounted in key parts of NCR. The second leg was held last March 15-17 and the third leg was staged this past weekend at the UP Town Central Plaza.       During these dates, off-road enthusiasts can check out the fourth generation of Suzuki’s trademark 4x4 and other models live and up close. Fun activities and games await off-road adventurers during each leg of the launch.       Designed to deliver authentic 4x4 experience, the all-new Jimny features All Grip Pro for high off-road capability that allows instant response and maneuver through difficult terrain.       The fourth iteration of this popular Suzuki SUV uses a ladder frame that is more resistant than a monocoque body to torsion and is therefore better suited for off-road, rough terrain. Compared with many SUVs today with independent suspensions, the Jimny uses a long-stroke 3-link suspension and rigid full wheel axles on both front and rear for strong traction on uneven terrain.      The Jimny can climb over obstacles and steep hills without scrapping its bumpers or underbody. The vehicle’s 37-degree specialized approach angle, 28-degree ramp breakover angle and 49-degree departure angle allow it to maneuver over ridges and verticals.      With its part-time 4WD with low-range transfer gear, the Jimny can switch between 4WD and 2WD to achieve optimal off-road performance and better fuel economy and enhanced cornering on paved roads, respectively. The SUV also has extra torque in the 4L mode for rough terrain.      Whether the day calls for multiple projects off site or unplanned long trips outside the metro, the all-new Suzuki Jimny can handle the challenge by combining hill hold control, hill descent control and brake limited slip-differential (LSD) traction control. These braking assistance systems allow for better control in rough road conditions.      The fourth-generation SUV sports a square body for better situational awareness.  Its compact dimensions allow the Jimny to maneuver through narrow mountain trails and thick forests, a clear advantage over larger off-road vehicles. Its light weight lets it conquer mud, sand and up steep slippery slopes where heavier vehicles tend to get stuck.       The Jimny’s look and body express off-road functionality in every detail, from the tough square form to the 15-inch alloy wheels painted in dark-metallic gray. The angled bumper is optimized for off-road terrain while the square wheel arches allow for easier tire changes. Molded black bumpers, wheel arch extensions and side sills help block pebbles from scratching the body panels. The iconic round headlamps inherited from past models are completely separated to allow independent replacement.      The interior mirrors the simple and straightforward exterior. Black is used to minimize distraction, with functional parts such as center switches and dials in metallic colors for easy use. The instrument panel and surrounding parts have scratch- and stain-resistant grained finish while the circular steering wheel has a leather cover to withstand rough handling.      The multimedia audio unit features a bigger 9-inch capacitive touchscreen with large icons and soft buttons for easy control. It features off-line GPS navigation system and off-road audio guide.      The all-new Jimny accommodates 53 liters more luggage than the previous model. Small items can be stored in a removable luggage box for easier organization.      The all-new Jimny uses a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K15B engine that delivers stronger torque at all rpm than the previous Jimny. It features a specially designed flywheel for engine flexibility and improved NVH and a lightweight resin belt cover and fuel tank. The optimized intake system and long nozzle injector enhance fuel efficiency. The Jimny All-Grip Pro also features Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), which scatters collision energy across the vehicle frame to mitigate damage to the car and passengers.      To reduce driver stress and fatigue, one of the top design considerations for the new Jimny, the SUV’s ladder frame rigidity was increased and the body mounts redesigned for lower vibration. The front seat cushion frames are 70mm wider and 50mm taller for better shock absorption. Unpleasant noise inside the cabin was reduced through the strategic placement of sound-absorbing material throughout the body.       For greater dependability, the Jimny All-Grip Pro use zinc-coated steel more extensively and has a more effective floor undercoating and seater coatings at panel edges to protect it against rust caused by salt from river crossings.      Jimny Fans can choose their vehicle’s armor because this off-road warrior comes in two variants: monotone and two-tone.The monotone variants are Pearl Bluish Black, Solid Medium Gray, Metallic Silky Silver, Superior White and Solid Jungle Green while the two-tone variants are Solid Kinetic Yellow, Metallic Brisk Blue and Metallic Chiffon Ivory.      Prices for the all-new Jimny are Php 975,000 for GL MT; Php 1,035,000 for the GL AT; Php 1,085,000 for the GLX AT monotone and Php 1,095,000 for the GLX AT two-tone.       The Suzuki Jimny All-Grip Pro is now available in all authorized Suzuki dealers.
